NEWSAGENT: MR CHONG POW WOON
Many of the students, teachers and staff would be familiar with Mr Chong who delivers newspapers to our school daily. He is the newsagent for Seri Manjung and delivers papers to the hospital, many of the government offices, schools and the housing areas in this area. He is helped by his wife, Mrs Chong and a Malay worker. He has been doing this for 12 years.
Mr and Mrs Chong have three children, two boys and a girl. The eldest son is 20 years, the second daughter is 18 years and the youngest boy, 15 years. Mr Chong's hometown is in Alor Star, Kedah. He settled here when me married his wife who is a Pundut girl.
He says that he used to play badminton with his friends as a hobby but nowadays he does not have the time as he is busy with his business. When he is free, he likes to read the newspapers.
Besides being a newsagent, he also runs a Chinese Medical Shop. He studied under his father's family who are in this line of work. He also took up courses on Chinese medicine. He was in New Zealand for two years studying about traditional medicine. His wife also works part-time as a Prudential Insurance agent.
