This morning Puan Kamariah Sulaiman and I took turns to give a talk to the fifth formers on the answering techniques for the English language 1119 Papers 1 and 2. There were two sessions, one for each paper. It began at 7.45 a.m. and ended at 12.15 p.m. with a 20 minute break in the middle.
Puan Kamariah handled the graphic texts, information transfer, summary and directed writing components while literature, comprehension and continuous writing was done by me.
Actually, I was rather disappointed with the attitude of some of the students. They simply did not pay attention and were just not listening. After all the hard work, Puan Kamariah and I had gone through to prepare the slides and the handouts and not to mention the hours of discussion we had to co-ordinate our sessions, we find that some of the students were not interested or did not bother to put in some effort to try to listen to what we were trying to impart. As a teacher, I find this very upsetting and frustrating. I am sure Puan Kamariah felt the same way as I did this morning. Anyway, both Puan Kamariah and I gave those students who were lackadaisal a talking to before the session ended and hopefully they would buck up.
