TAMAN HERBA, BATU GAJAH
This morning, Miss Grace and I went to the Taman Herba in Batu Gajah to survey the place and to make arrangements with the management to bring some of the students to the place for a study tour. This visit is in conjunction with the Resource Centre Week.
We started out from the school at 9.40 a.m. but somehow we took a wrong turn and ended up taking 2 hours and 15 minutes to reach the place only at noon. It was a very long and tiring journey for the both of us. However, our trip was not in vain as we managed to make arrangements to visit it on Thursday, 26 July, 2007.
Let me tell you a little bit about this Herbal Park.
The place is located at Batu 1, Jalan Simpang Pulai - Batu Gajah Kampung Kepayang, Gopeng. It occupies an area of 22 hectares. Many different types of herbs for both health and medicinal purposes are planted here. There is also a library on herbs.
This park is also a tourist destination for the state of Perak. The fresh air is suitable for weekend family activities. The facilities can be enjoyed by everyone who visits. Fishing is also allowed at the peaceful and serene lake. Some of the activities are aerobics every Saturday, jogging, trishaw rides around the Herbal Park, motivational camps and camping, shopping and eating at the Taman Herba Bazaar. One also gets to savour herbal products like bandrek tea, lepat gebu, nasi ulam and herbal drinks.
The operation hours for the park are from 8.30 a.m until 7.00 p.m. There are 3 sessions for visits to the park. First session: 9.00 a.m - 11.00 a.m. Second session: 11.00 a.m. - 1.00 p.m. Third session: 3.00 p.m. - 5.00 p.m. The park is open everyday of the week. The entrance fees are RM2.00 for adults and RM1.00 for children. The visits by tour groups will be guided by the Farm Manager. Visitors will ride on trams to visit the various places as the place is really big. The pictures that I am posting only show a very small part of the place.
