English Language Department of STESMA.
Let me acquaint you with the teachers in this department for the year 2006 in this post and subsequent posts. Altogether there are ten teachers, three men and seven ladies. The principal, Puan Siti Arfah bt Ibrahim is the adviser. She is assisted by Puan Siti Kamariah bt Hussin who is the senior teacher in charge of languages for the school.
CHEAH LI NA
Let me begin by introducing myself. I am sure that you most probably would have looked at my profile and gotten to know a bit about me. What was not mentioned was my teaching credentials which will be told to you here.
For your information, I was re-posted to Sekolah Menengah Teknik Seri Manjung on April 17, which happens to be my birthday, after studying for two years in Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris. Recently I have again been given the duties as the Head of the English Language Department (a post I held before I left for my studies) and Media teacher. Besides the English subject, I also teach Physical and Health Education, it being one of my elective subjects when I was in Teacher's Training College.
This is my twentieth year as a teacher having taught in four schools in the state of Perak. I graduated with a First Class honours degree in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) from the University of Bristol, United Kingdom and am now completing my Masters degree in TESL. God willing, I hope to pursue my studies until I obtain a doctorate in the field of education.
During the weekends, I love spending time with my five nephews and one niece. When not teaching, I occupy my time by writing, learning feng shui and surfing the Net. My favourite singer is Jeong Ji Hoon. Like Ji Hoon, I am a fan of George Lucas and his Star Wars saga.
The picture of me posted above was taken on a very significant date that was on May 5, 2005 which when interpreted in digits would read as 555. Actually, the time was at five minutes past five in the late afternoon. I was invited to conduct a Thinking Skills session with the boys and girls of the Physics Club and the photo was snapped after the session had ended. Unfortunately, I could not validate the time as only half the clock in the background was visible. If not it would be 55555.
