DEWEY DECIMAL CLASSIFICATION

The boys and girls of 4MRTV were the first to be taught the Dewey Decimal Classification by me on Tuesday. As the Media teacher, it is one of my job descriptions to teach information technology to the students of the school. After the lesson, they were given a hands on lesson. As many of the books on the shelves were not placed in their respective subject shelves, I instructed the students to take all the books out of the shelves, put them on the tables and then rearranged them using the classification system they were taught. It took the boys and girls almost three hours to get the books sorted out and then rearranged on the shelves.
Below are how the subjects are classed:

000 - Computer science, information and general works.
100 - Philosophy and psychology
200 - Religion
300 - Social sciences
400 - Language
500 - Science
600 - Technology
700 - Arts and recreation
800 - Literature
900 - History and geography

The students also took the opportunity to take part in the "Guess the pages" contest.
