Encik Rosli Samot and Puan Mashita Abdullah

In this post I would like to introduce a couple whom I have known for more than ten years. In fact, I knew them even before they became husband and wife in August, 1996.
Encik Rosli hails from Hutan Melintang in Teluk Intan. He is the eighth child in a family of ten brothers and sisters. I have mentioned in earlier post entries that he recently lost his beloved mother and is still in mourning.
He is a product of Universiti Malaya, having attained his Bachelor of Arts in History and Malay Studies, Diploma in Education and Masters in Education from the same university. He studied Education Planning and Administration for his Masters degree. Like his wife, Sekolah Menengah Teknik Seri Manjung is the first school he was posted to. Let me tell you one juicy titbit about Cikgu Rosli and his wife. He actually fell in love at first sight with her. I remember he was really smitten and I guess he decided there and then that she was the one for him.

Encik Rosli heads the Malay Language Department and is an exemplary teacher. His hard work and commitment has earned him much praise not to mention recognition from the Technical Division of the Ministry of Education.
During his free time, he likes swimming and reading books especially those related to education and language. On his coffee table one can find a lot of magazines and books.
Puan Mashita's natural mother passed away when she was only four years old. Her policeman father remarried and it was her step-mother that raised and nurtured her. She is the youngest child among eight siblings. She first reported for duty in Sekolah Menengah Teknik Seri Manjung around the same time as I did. This would mean that this is her twelfth year in service. She is currently on study leave. Puan Mashita was awarded a scholarship to pursue her doctoral studies in Analytical Chemistry at the School of Chemical Science, Universiti Sains Malaya in Pulau Pinang. The area that she is researching on is "Microscale Experimental for Secondary Schools in Malaysia". She had also attained her first degree in Food Technology from this university. However, she completed her Diploma in Education and Masters programme at University Malaya.

During her free time, she likes to watch television, read books and cook. Her specialty is desserts, especially puddings and cakes. When I asked her about her husband's favourite food, she said that it was Ketam Masak Lemak Cili Api. Encik Rosli then added that his favourite drink is Belimbing Suam. When it was his turn to answer about his wife's favourite food, he said that it was Assam Pedas Ikan Pari.
I must mention that both husband and wife are very immaculate dressers and are always fashionably and properly attired. They are careful to upkeep their appearances as educators. Both of them have a fondness for the colour purple. However, Encik Rosli also likes blue whereas Puan Mashita likes brown.
This loving couple loves to rear cats. They have four at home, three males and one female. Their cats are called Didi, Mocha, Juliana and Ikram.
When asked about their plans for the future, Cikgu Rosli mentions that he plans to continue his doctoral studies in the Universiti of Malaya. He plans to do history. Both he and his wife plan to go on the hajj. They are also hoping that Allah Almighty will bless them with a child in the near future.
