ALL IN A DAY'S WORK ...

Let me share with you an account of what I did at work today. Tuesday is the day when I have a class in the late afternoon. I am sure quite a number of the teachers in my school will have a similar work schedule. Early in the morning I snapped photographs of Cikgu Ishak Salasa teaching the MRTV students how to set up the antennae. Then I went and invigilated a class who was sitting for the Mathematics paper, after that I did some paperwork for the English Language Carnival with Puan Kamariah Sulaiman. As I was busy, Tuan Haji Ahmad Hasnin interviewed the new English language teacher, Puan Anita. I only managed to shake hands and exchange some pleasantries with her and of course, snap her photograph. Next, I got an update from Cik Irma about the preparations for the exhibition next week. There were also discussions with Encik Sabri, Encik Faizal, Encik Jalaluddin and Encik Ishak about the activities that they have planned for next week. Then I went back to the EI workshop to discuss the details of the carnival launch with Encik Zaki. I also managed to talk with Encik Yusof about setting up the Astro satellite dish and the other equipment for educational television. At noon, Puan Kamariah and I had an appointment with the principal, Puan Siti Arfah, regarding the English language carnival. I managed to squeeze in discussions about the resource centre and the educational television as well and will proceed with the new projects after the carnival. Then I had lunch with a couple of colleagues. At around a quarter past three I was back in school for a class. I used this period to teach the students the classification system in the library. Before the class began, I talked with the girls who had come earlier for the class and were waiting near the reading pavilion. The students also helped me to arrange the books on the shelf according to numerical order. The class ended at 4.45 p.m. but a few students stayed and chatted with me. They had expressed interest in becoming librarians and wanted to know when was the next recruitment drive. I finally left the school at around 5.00 p.m.
