MRTV TOP TEN
This is the name of the newsletter done by the members of 4MRTV. The last day to submit the entries for the newsletter writing competition was today, Friday 4th August 2006 and they along with 3 other classes managed to send in their entries. Out of a total of 30 classes in the school, I only received 11 entries. I am actually saddened by the response. The objective of the contest was for the students to learn how to go about making a newsletter and work collaboratively as a class to come out with an issue. My question is, "What happened to the 29 other classes?" Okay, the other 28. 4JDI had done half of their newsletter but could not submit it on time. They will try to finish it for the exhibition next week.
You might be wondering why I am highlighting on the newsletter done by MRTV. Well, it did not win the top three prizes. The results will be announced next Friday. But let me tell you that the judge, En Ab Hamid bin Fazal Mohamad was impressed by their effort. No doubt there were lots of grammatical errors but the team effort could be seen. The boys and girls took turns to type what some of their friends have written. They sat together to think of a name for the newsletter. A few of the girls even came back to the workshop to work on the newsletter at around 3.00 in the afternoon. Even their teacher, Encik Ishak Salasa got involved with the publication. Also, all the while the other members stood next to the typists and gave comments and suggestions. Now that is the team work that the teachers and I are trying to instil in our students. We want the involvement, the motivation and the esprit de corp. No doubt the boys and girls in this class have very poor results for their PMR and are not in either the vocational of technical classes but at the very least they tried, bad English and all. If there is a prize for teamwork and effort, then they deserve it. The picture above shows Cikgu Ishak and the students of 4MRTV.
