BUBUR ASYURA

Today Cikgu Ridaudin was busy preparing Bubur Asyura for the teachers and staff of the school. As the current chairperson for the Teachers and Staff Club he has come up with this activity. He tells me that this is in conjunction with an Islamic occasion. You have to forgive me as I have forgotten exactly what it was but it has to be with the beginning of something in the Islamic calendar. For visitors to the blog who do not know him, let me tell you that he is an excellent cook. In fact, he puts me to shame as I have to admit that he sews and cooks better than I can. As a consolation to myself, I think I can write better in English than he can.

At the end of the day, all the teachers and staff were each given a container of the special porridge. It was placed on the office counter and I was supposed to take one home. But I was too engrossed in getting medical aid for PC the cat that I had forgotten to take it. I only remembered when I was driving back home at 5.15 p.m. by which the office had already closed for the day. Now, I will never get to know how it tastes like. Maybe, for my birthday this year, I can buy the ingredients and persuade him to cook the same dish for the teachers and staff as a treat from me.
