FIRST ENGLISH LANGUAGE LESSON

This afternoon saw the start of the English Language classes for the Buddy Support System Programme. A total of 17 teachers attended the class. There were a few of the Mathematics and Science teachers who could not make it because of some pressing matters, example Encik Redhuan and his wife, Puan Shamiza who were both involved in the accident that I had reported on Wednesday. I am glad to report that our chief clerk, Puan Aliza also attended today's lesson. Puan Siti Kamariah and Puan Kamariah came to assist me in carrying out the activities.

The lesson was divided into three parts. The first 30 minutes the class members had to sit for a preliminary test. The test was to help them gauge their level of proficiency in grammar. The next part was to test their oral skills. It was in the form of a game whereby a glass of water was passed round the class while music was being played. When the music stopped, the person holding the glass of water has to pick a topic contained in an Angpow and then speak on that topic for 1 minute. The lucky teachers who got a chance to show off their oral skills were Puan Salasiah (My Idol), Pn Marini (Festivals), Encik Shabudin (Money), Encik Ishak Ismail (Reality TV), Ustaz Lotpi (Floods) and Pn Norhashita (My Favourite Body Part). The teachers had to go to the computer lab to perform the last activity which was a contest where they had to hunt for specific information from the World Wide Web. For many of the teachers, this was their first time at the lab and that is why I have posted the two pictures of me with Pn Nor Hazlin, Encik Zulkafli and Encik Shahidan at the computer laboratory.
