This afternoon I was at the MRTV workshop busy planning and preparing the materials for the first English Language Lesson for the teachers and staff of this school. Cikgu Zainal Abidin Shah also came to help me with the preparation. The English Language course is actually one of the activities under the Buddy Support System Programme for 2007. The first lesson will kick off tomorrow at 3.30 p.m. I will be conducting this lesson. The subsequent lessons will be carried out every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month and the teachers in the English Language Department will take turns to teach the lessons. I have prepared, in my opinion, activities that will help teachers to polish up their oral, comprehension and thinking skills. There will also be a short preliminary test at the beginning of the lesson.
The course was actually planned to help the teachers teaching Science, Mathematics, Computeering and Technical subjects with their English language proficiency but it was decided during the committee meeting to invite the other teachers from the other departments as well as staff to join the course.
I had actually even put up an advertisement in the STESMA forever blog and was rather surprised when teachers from other schools came to the school office to make enquiries about the course. I am afraid that for the time being it is only for teachers and staff of STESMA.
