Remember the poor little cat, PS, that I blogged about a couple of days ago. Well, I am sad to report that it had to be put to sleep this afternoon. When the librarians came to check stock in the afternoon, they told me that it had been hit by a vehicle and was badly injured. Both the legs were splayed and it was in the drain in front of the school Ko-op.
Hearing that, I went with Firdaus to investigate. True enough, PS was where the girls said it was. Firdaus picked it up and put it into a box and we examined it. Its condition was even worse than the girls had described. It was bleeding and there was a gaping hole on its back and it could not even get up. Ants were on its body. Both of us knew that it was in great pain and decided to take it to a veterinarian. After getting permission from Cikgu Azman, the chief warden, for Firdaus to accompany me to Sitiawan, we went to look for an animal clinic. All the way there, both of us were feeling very bad. At first we could hear the cat meow but then it grew weaker and weaker. It pained both of us to see it in so much pain. The vet said that it was best to let the cat die peacefully than have it suffer. After PS was put to sleep, we both took the carcass back to school. It is now buried in a plot behind the school library.
The first two pictures show PS, the cat, after it was rescued from the drain. The third picture shows Firdaus with a Persian cat that we saw at the animal clinic.
