WORKING OVERTIME

The librarians, Ustazah Roslina and I are working overtime to finish the stock checking for the library. Even on Thaipusam all of us are in the library from morning till afternoon to get the work done. Tonight they will come again and continue the work. It is a very tedious and laborious task as many of the books have been wrongly entered in the stock books. At the same time the librarians have to check the classification numbers. According to them, quite a number of the books were wrongly classified and that has made the task even more difficult. Also there are also books that have not been processed but were lent out. Then there are the books that were borrowed and not returned and those that are lost or damaged.

I have to apologise to all the teachers, staff and students for the delay in making the library books available for loan. Believe me, all of us are working very, very hard to get the work done, if possible, by the middle of February. So please bear with us. I only took over the running of the library on the 3rd of January, 2007 which is less than a month. I hope that I have your support and understanding to make the necessary adjustments before the library is fully operational.

Next week, the two trainee teachers, Miss Joice and Cik Idliani will also come and help with the stock checking and so will the two new teachers, Cikgu Idzarif and Puan Asiah. I did not want to bother them this week as they were busy with registration work and also ice-breaking with their new students. But next week, they have to come and help as it is very critical here.
