If you have visited the library recently, you might have noticed the two "labu sayongs" that are displayed on the cabinet at the entrance. Well, they actually belonged to Encik Othman, our former peon. When he was transferred to Ipoh, he did not take them along and I managed to get them to be donated to the library.
I had one slight problem with the them as they had both lost their shine and looked dull and faded. Well, I thought and thought for some time and finally got the idea of using shoe polish to give them back the shine and colour. I am happy to report that my idea works and both "labu sayongs" look good now.
The above pictures show Puan Asiah helping me to shine the labu sayong after I had added the polish and dried it under the sun this morning. Notice the contrast between the one that has been worked on and the other that has not.
