CEKUR MANIS (SAUROPUS ANDROGYNUS)
Cekur manis is actually a vegetable. Its scientific name is sauropus androgynus. It is also known locally as taruk manis, asin-asin, cekup manis, sweet leaf bush, katuk, ma ni chai. It is from the Euphorbiaceace family.
Uses
Cekur manis is used in traditional medicine to increase milk supply for lactating mothers. I read that the leaves are crushed and then pasted on to the breasts of the mother. It is also used to darken the hair of babies. Its juice can be used to treat conjunctivitis and fever. However, it is said that consuming too much cekur manis can damage the lungs.
And I was also very lucky this afternoon to get another pretty model, Cik Mazlinawati, to pose next to the cekur manis plant in the herb garden.
