This afternoon, my 5EN3 class did project work. This could be considered as enrichment after they had written the essay titled, "My Idol" for me a couple of weeks back. I noticed that almost half my class wrote that their mothers were their idols. So what better way to express their appreciation for their mothers than to make cards for them.
I did not want them to do this activity in a confined environment and told everyone to pick a spot outside the library to carry out their project. One group happily did their work in the herb garden while another group sat on a mat under a big tree near the green house to carry out their work. There were two boys who created their cards on the pavement outside the computer labs. The biggest group occupied the reading pavilion just outside the library. I could see that the boys and girls went all out to design beautiful cards for their mothers. Of course, I also promised to give prizes for the best three Mother's Day cards. When my lesson ended, many of them still had not finished making their cards and so I gave them until this Friday to show of their work. Don't worry, I will be posting all their masterpieces on this blog for everyone to see on Friday.
In the meantime, check out the slide show below to see the students of 5EN3 making their cards.
