TERUNG PIPITThe Terung Pipit plant can be found in the Malaysian forests. Its botanic name is Solanum tarvum. It is a type of shrub that is more than 1.5 metres high. It is said to be effective for treating headaches, muscle aches, diarrhoea, cholera and to lower fever. Lotion that is produced from the leaves of this plant is used for piles and the root of this plant when pounded into a paste is good for cracked heels. The fruit of this plant is delicious as ulam or cooked with sambal. When it is eaten regularly, it helps to lower high blood pressure. In the Malay kampung, the villagers usually mixes the leaves of the terung pipit plant in their dishes as an appetizer.
