***************************ON A VEGETARIAN DIET TODAY

Today is a Chinese festival and many Chinese of the Taoist and Buddhist faiths went to the temples to offer prayers to the Goddess Kuan Yin. In honour of the Goddess, many devotees were on a vegetarian diet today abstaining from meat and carnal pleasures. They also tried to carry out acts of compassion, volunteerism and kindness. Similarly, I too ate only fruits and vegetables until 6.00 p.m. My friends, Mrs Ooi and Mrs Wong, volunteered to help out at the temple where free vegetarian food was served to all who went there. The food was donated by well-wishes and patrons of the temple. I too went to the temple in Lumut at around 5.30 p.m.
