PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE
Cikgu Zulkafli came to the library this morning and I chatted with him about the STESMA forever blog. I told that I had made the background pink for October as this is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Cikgu Zulkafli then mentioned that Lingzhi is credited as having medicinal properties to treat and prevent tumours and cancer. He then showed me two bottles of Lingzhi in capsule form that he takes daily for the prevention of cancer and also general good health. Here is more information about this health food:
LINGZHI
Língzhī (Chinese: 靈芝) is the name for one form of the mushroom Ganoderma lucidum, and its close relative Ganoderma tsugae. It is also known as Reishi. The Ganoderma is just a tiny fungus grown in rotten wood. However, the Chinese held this herb in high regard for more than 2000 years. Ganoderma lucidum enjoys special veneration in Asia, where it has been used in traditional Chinese medicine as a herbal medicine for more than 4,000 years, making it one of the oldest mushrooms known to have been used in medicine. The word lingzhi, in Chinese, means "herb of spiritual potency" and has also been described as "mushroom of immortality". Because of its presumed health benefits and apparent absence of side-effects, it has attained a reputation in the East as the ultimate herbal substance.
Medicinal uses:
The Chinese has used it as a general tonic. They believe that it benefits qi (energy), improves memory, benefits complexion, eases joint movement, strengthens tendons, and bones, calms nerves. Scientists found out that Ganoderma has healing effects on circulatory, nerve and immunity problems. But the most amazing part is that this herb also has outstanding anti-tumour and anti-cancer properties.
Most Common Uses:
Use to treat general weakness, cough, asthma, insomnia, indigestion, neurasthenia, heart problems (coronary heart disease, arrhythmia, hyperlipemia, hypertension, etc.), lack of appetite, chronic hepatitis, mushroom poisoning, chronic bronchitis, leukocytopenia.
