THE GIFT OF SIGHT
My mum underwent eye surgery on Tuesday to remove a cataract from her right eye. Even though the procedure was done using laser, she was nonetheless frightened. As a matter of fact, she did not sleep the night before as she was anxious and worried. This morning, the bandage was removed and she is now walking around with sunglasses. I am making sure that she follows doctor's orders by not doing anything that might jeopardise the good work done by her eye surgeon. That would mean running chores for her and making sure that she doesn't spend too much time watching telly.
This all has made me realise how precious a gift God has given us. We have to take good care of our eyes and make sure that we do not do anything to damage them. Of course, there will come a time when old age sets in and it would be my turn to go for such a type of surgery but I am sure that by that time medical science would be so advanced that the procedure would be safer and painless.
The above pictures show my mum before I sent her to the eye clinic to have the bandage removed this morning.
