HERBS IN PUAN KAMARIAH'S HOUSE
After visiting Tuan Haji Hasnin's house, Fydo and I went to Puan Kamariah's house to take pictures of the Beluntas plant (I am not sure of the spelling but will check with Puan Idayati tomorrow). She tells me that it is considered an ulam (a vegetable that can be eaten raw with sambal belacan). This plant is the last picture posted here.
She also had other common herbs like the kesom and pandan. There was one uncommon herb that she showed us. Its name is puding patah (See the third picture). Puan Kamariah told me that she had specially gone to get it from one of the villages as it is quite a rare plant. Fortunately, it can be grown from cuttings and she gave me two cuttings to take back to school. Yes, tomorrow Cikgu Shahidan will be a busy man as he has quite a lot of things to plant compliments of Tuan Haji Hasnin and Puan Kamariah. Keh! Keh! Keh!
Yeah! You might notice that Puan Kamariah and I look very pale and tired in the pictures above. This is because we had been working from 7.30 a.m. until 5.15 p.m. This had been a very long day for the two of us. She attended a meeting for Heads of Department before continuing with the discussion for the English Language Carnival which only ended at around 5.00 p.m. I was working in the library until 3.30 p.m. before the discussion. After that I went with Fydo to go Herb Hunting. It was only around 6.30 p.m. that we went to her house.
