TRAINEE TEACHER: ENCIK RASHIDI BIN ABD. AZIZ
On Monday, I noticed that three trainee teachers had reported at my school to do their practicum. They would be here for 10 weeks. These teachers are actually trained professionals but they have opted to go into teaching after working several years in the private sector. They are presently attending a KPLI course at Institut Perguruan Teknik, Kuala Lumpur to prepare them to be teachers. I managed to talk to two of them today.
The first teacher I talked to was Encik Rashidi. A graduate of Universiti Putra Malaysia in electrical and electronical engineering, he was formerly working as an assistant engineer in a factory but decided to become a teacher a year ago.
He is married and his wife works at the Income Tax department in Bukit Mertajam. He tells me that his wife commutes to work each day from their house in Sungai Petani. However both Encik Rashidi and his wife were not born there. His village is in Kuala Kangsar and his wife comes from Kelantan. They have two children. The eldest is a boy, Muhammad Farhan, 6 years and the second, a girl, Farah Adni who is just a year old.
His hobby is reading. He loves to read books on computers. Football is another one of his passion. He plays fullback for his team. He also plays badminton and ping pong.
On World Cup 2006, he tells me that he had initially rooted for Argentina but since they are now out of the competition, he thinks Italy will win.
