On the third day of Chinese New Year, Cikgu Ishak Ismail visited my mum, aunt Linda and I in Ipoh. He along with many of the teachers and students had either sent text messages or called to extend New Year greetings to me. My mum picked up the phone when he called and invited him to come over on the third day as we had invited some friends and neighbours for a New Year gathering which would start at around 2.30 p.m.
Since he had some appointment later in the afternoon, he came before noon and instead of tucking into the food that we had ordered from the Malay caterer, he treated my old folks and I to lunch at Assam House. This place was featured in the television programme, "Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan". I think he must have watched the programme since he suggested the place. Actually the food is good and also reasonably priced. So if you are in Ipoh, you might want to go check the food out. The place is located at Green Lane.
