I would like to share with you my experience and also some of the photos I snapped on convocation day. Unfortunately, I couldn't take any in the hall. The ones with me and Raja Permaisuri Bainun are taken by professional photographers and will only be sent to me via post in a few days' time. Besides, I was too excited and nervous as I had to walk up the stage and get the scroll from her Royal Highness. I was worried that I would forget to bow or I would trip and fall on stage. Then, it would be MALUNYA!!! Anyway, everything went well. I managed to walk gracefully up the stage, bow to her royal highness, get the scroll and then walk gracefully down again. Whew!
One of the most exciting experience I had was walking with all the graduands from the auditorium to the SITC Hall. The route was lined with yellow carpeting and people were taking videos or snapping photographs. Now, I know why many people want to be celebrities. All the glamour and attention. However, the most poignant experience was when I was walking up the aisle from the entrance of the SITC up the hall to take my seat. Tears welled up in my eyes as I reflected on all the hard work, frustrations and delays that it took for me to get my second degree. My friend Cikgu Fazidah, who graduated with me, said that it was really blood, sweat and tears. Of course, my mum and aunt came along to be with me on this very special day and both of them were really proud of me. Actually, all the parents, husbands, relatives and special friends who came along with their loved ones were equally proud of their own graduands.
The pictures above were mostly taken before and after the ceremony in the hall. The last picture shows me and my friends waiting outside the E-learning room to return our garments and also get our transcripts and certificates. Also take note of the photo with the stall selling flowers and gifts. Many of the graduands got flowers and gifts from their loved ones. Me? Tak-delah. You cannot expect two seventy-year old ladies to buy me flowers and cute little pooh bears which incidentally cost either RM10.00 or RM15.00.
