NEW MODEL
Heh! Heh! This morning I have a new model to pose next to the plant in the herb garden. She is none other than Puan Rasilah Ahmad. As you might already know I am now beginning to promote the Herbal Plants and Flowers Exhibition and what better way to show off the plants than to have a pretty teacher pose next to it. The local name is jarum tujuh bilah. Its scientific name is Pereskia sacharosa/saecnarosa. It is also known as Bintang Tujuh, Cancer Plant and Chat Sim Chan. It is from the cactus family. It is a native of Korea but can be easily planted here in Malaysia as it is a hardy plant. Its leaves can be eaten as a salad. Perekia is reputed to be able to treat cancer especially colon and nose cancer. There are two ways to use this plant. First is to brew at least two leaves in hot water to be drunk as tea. Second, the leaves can be used as ulam, 1 - 3 leaves to be eaten every first and third day by grinding the leaves and adding water to be made into a juice to be drunk. One must remember not to drink other beverages after taking this as it is said to negate all the nutrients in our body. This plant is also said to be able to treat high blood pressure and diabetes.
