FULL AS USUAL AT THE SALC
Our SALC is fully operational and in use five days a week by our students. As a matter of fact many students want to use it but there are only 9 computers and so they have to wait their turn. Initially we allowed each student to use it for an hour . Today after discussion with Cikgu Daniel we have revised the time for each student to half an hour. Why? Because it was found that the same students hog the computers all the time and one look at the record book shows that a few students seem to monopolise the use of the computers. Also, I found out that some students have abused the privilege given to them. Two boys or girls would hog one computer for the whole hour on a sharing basis. Sometimes three persons use one computer. That would mean that there are more than 20 people in the room which makes it noisy and stuffy. This is actually not fair. Also we can only operate for an hour in the afternoon since the librarians need to go back to the hostels after school to pray, bathe and have their lunch before they come for duty. A few of the librarians would bring along their homework and do there while they look after the place (see picture of Arif Ramdhan above). The service ends at around 4.30 p.m. and the room will be closed by 5.00 p.m. after the computer updates and also the shut down procedure is carried out. We cannot extend the hours since the librarians need to go back to perform their Asar prayers after that. For your information, Cikgu Daniel and I take turns to go open and close the SALC. In between we also go check on the students to make sure that they do not enter websites that they are not supposed to visit.
The last two pictures show the boys waiting outside of the SALC for their turn to go in. I specifically told them that they could only enter when the first batch have had their turn.
Here is the new schedule for use of the SALC:
Monday : Form 5 - Girls
Tuesday : Form 5 - Boys
Wednesday: Form 4 - Boys
Thursday : Form 5 - Boys
Friday : Form 4 - Girls
