HERBSAs we have been getting quite a lot of rain recently, the plants in the Herb Garden have been thriving. Take a walk around the place and you will find that even our starfruit plant has begun to fruit. The leaves on the plants look fresh and also very healthy. Not wanting the herbs to go to waste, I got my boys from 4JER to help me pluck the leaves of the Bebuas plant to make kerabu.
The officers at the PKGs in the Manjung district keep reminding the media teachers to make full use of the resource facilities that we have in our school and to promote their use.
When the JER boys were with me in the Herb Garden, I explained to them the medicinal use of the plants that they helped me to get. I was also quite surprised that one boy knew that a particular type of herb was used to treat high blood pressure.
To make the kerabu, I got the kaduk, bebuas and pegaga leaves. Actually, I was only in charge of getting the herbs from the garden. The person making the kerabu was Puan Kamariah. She actually told me that we could also use the starfruit for the kerabu but since there was only one fruit, we decided not to use it.
By the way, I am told that the officers from the Manjung Agricultural Department visit this blog quite often to check on how we are managing with the herb garden. They even help to set up a web page for it.
