IT'S WAR AGAINST THE MITES

This afternoon I decided to wage war on the insects that were making a meal out of our Pondok Ilmu. No way was I going to let them eat away what we had built.

After making enquiries at the hardware shop and getting advice on how to get rid of the insects. I bought all the necessary items and headed back to school. I also brought along Safwan after getting permission from Cikgu Azman, the chief warden, to take him out. I am not too good with stuff about carpentry or woodwork and decided to bring Safwan along to absorb the information and also to carry out the instructions given by the owner of the hardware shop.

When we reached school, Solihin was waiting at the library for he had volunteered to help. Before they started, I made sure that the two boys take turns to spray the infected areas. I also bought gloves for them to wear and also made them wear my sunglasses for protection. They took less than half an hour to get the job done. Each of them did the job for 15 minutes. Tomorrow, we will give the Pondok Ilmu another round of spraying and next week will will apply shellac to it. Encik Salleh, our driver, also came and inspected the woodwork of the hut and then he gave the boys tips on how to apply the pesticide. Also, the two boys were told to wash their hands thoroughly after they had done their job.
