CHANGES
Tuan Haji Ahmad Hasnin, Cik Siti Mariam and I were posted to Sekolah Menengah Teknik Seri Manjung in the middle of 1995 after we graduated from our respective universities with our first degrees. That means we have been teaching here for 12 years. Last weekend was the first time that the student alumni held a gathering after so many years. More than half of the students who came were from the 1998/99 batch. There was one student from the 91/92 batch. He came with his wife and three children. The eldest being 8 years old this year. Wah! So grown up already.
I was actually looking forward to meeting our former students to catch up with what they have been doing after they left school. It was indeed interesting to meet them again after so many years. There were many changes that I noted. Physically, they looked more matured. Some were not as skinny or slim as they were in their school days. All of them looked so grown-up. Of course, I noticed that they have also become more worldly and more mature in their personal outlook. Instead of talking with teenagers, I was talking to working adults - some of whom are married, attached or going to be married. What a difference the years have made to all the boys and girls that studied in STESMA.
